“Food for Thought: A European cookbook”
I am pleased to announce my upcoming exhibition in the headquarters of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels from November 05 to November 30, 2018.
This exhibition features a series of oil canvas paintings. Taking the form of an “illustrated cookbook”, the exhibition offers viewers a journey through the different recipes of Europe and its purpose is to showcase Europe’s different food cultures, on the one hand, and the diversity and similarity found in European food culture, on the other.

The French-American artist Bruce Thurman will be showing over 50 of his works, many for the first time, in a major one-man show in Arles in April 2016. This museum level show is curated and sponsored by the Service de la Culture of the city of Arles, France.
This exhibition titled “STORYBOARDS” brings together the many different directions Thurman’s work has taken over the years, from the miniature diptych-like Notebooks and referential revisits of classical art, to the larger 20th century political, social, and pop-cultural “Deconstructions.” The different subjects that Thurman revisits and refits into his painting are very much part of the collective subconscious of our times and shared culture.
“My Storyboards are narratives, fragmented dramas, anecdotes, “History Paintings” filled with people, objects, places, and scenes. They are not illustrations of a story but the story itself. Like a book, my paintings are meant to be read“. Bruce Thurman
Bruce Thurman
